Additional comments:
Our goal of our program is to introduce kids to the sport of wrestling at an early age and to prepare them for the next levels of the sport of wrestling. Wrestling is not like other sports, in that your son may or may not be picked for the team and if he makes the team, he may sit on the bench. No, wrestling is an individual sport in which all atheletes are treated the same, and can excel at their own pace and skill level. Wrestling is also a team sport, in which through hard work and dedication, the athletes will become a unit that transcends all other sports. Participation in wrestling, especially at the high school and college level, teaches values much needed in our society, such as determination, team work, sacrifice, commitment, handling success or failure and physical fitness, to name a few.
The philosophy of the Donegal Wrestling coaching staff from the elementary level to the high school level is to teach our young athletes to work hard and enjoy it while developing as a person and a wrestler. Some of the young athletes involved in our program will eventually become champions, but all will be winners.
